Standing room only was the norm for the Public Information Officers Section classes during the International Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference in San Diego. Drawing an early crowd at 8:30 a.m. following a night where parties went late into the night is no easy chore. Thankfully, some name recognition, good promotion, and a willingness for executives to see the value in learning more about video strategies brought the attendees pouring into the room.
Police1 Editorial Director Greg Friese stopped by and covered the session from a news perspective.
The major takeaways from the class included:
-
- Videos are easy and can be accomplished by small departments.
-
- Equipment has become cheaper and more accessible to shoot great quality videos for your communities.
-
- Short videos tend to do well.
-
- Videos build trust.
